South Boston is located in South Central Halifax County, within the Southside Virginia region, contiguous to the state of North Carolina. South Boston is at the junction of three U.S. primary highways: Routes 58, 360, and 501. US 58 links the Town with the nearby communities of Danville, Martinsville (61 miles), and South Hill. US 360 leads northeast from the Town to the state capital in Richmond, 111 miles away. US 501 connects South Boston with Lynchburg (59 miles) to the north and Durham, North Carolina (60 miles) to the South.



Driving Directions

The following directions will get you to Constitution Square at the southern end of Downtown South Boston:

From The Northeast (Richmond/Keysville)

Follow 360 west.
Go through stoplight with Short Stop convenience store on right.
Pass South Boston Speedway on the left.
Go through next light with Ernie’s Restaurant on the left.
Pass St. Paschal’s Catholic Church on the left.
Turn right onto Seymour Drive just past Bridgeview Exxon on the right.
Follow Seymour to the stoplight. Constitution Square on the left just past the stoplight.

From the West (Danville/Martinsville)

Follow 58 east.
Pass Industrial Park on the right (D-Scan, Presto, ABB)
Go Through 1st stoplight.
Get in left lane.
Take left at next stoplight onto 360 east.
Cross the bridge.
Take the left onto Seymour Drive.
Follow Seymour to the stoplight. Constitution Square on the left just past the stoplight.

From The South (Roxboro/Durham NC)

Take 501 north to stoplight at intersection of 501 and 58 in South Boston
Go though the intersection of 501 & 58.
Get in left lane.
Go over the RR tracks – you’re now on Broad Street in Downtown - a one-way street going north.
Take the left onto Seymour Drive.
Follow Seymour to the stoplight. Constitution Square on the left just past the stoplight.

From The East (South Hill/Clarksville)

Take 58 west.
Pass World of Sports Complex and Movie Theater on the left.
Take right at next stoplight onto 360 east.
Cross the bridge.
Take the left onto Seymour Drive
Follow Seymour to the stoplight. Constitution Square on the left just past the stoplight.

From The North (Lynchburg/Brookneal)

Follow 501 South to town of Halifax
Take right at stop sign in Halifax (Jiffy store on the left. This is still 501 South)
Follow 501 straight into downtown South Boston.
Continue into Downtown South Boston
Constitution Square is in Downtown at corner of Main Street and Seymour Drive.

Directions to South Boston, Virginia from Raleigh-Durham International Airport

Exit from the airport to I-40 west toward Durham taking the Durham Freeway west (Hwy 147) into the city. From the Durham Expressway, take the DUKE STREET exit (one-way north) which leads to Hwy 501 north. Follow Hwy 501 north to South Boston, approximately 60 miles.

Directions to Raleigh-Durham International Airport from South Boston, Virginia

From South Boston, take Hwy. 501 south to Durham, NC, by way of the 501-Bypass into the city. Key landmarks passed include the crossing of I-85 , pass Northgate Shopping Center (on right), at which point you are on Gregson Street (one-way south through Durham). Other landmarks passed include the Durham High School on the left and Brightleaf Square Shopping Center (an old restored tobacco warehouse) on the right. You will also cross railroad tracks and the Durham Freeway just prior to making a left-hand exit (approximately one block) onto Hwy. 147 to the Durham Freeway east to I-40 and Raleigh-Durham Airport.
