We need volunteers for the South Boston Christmas Parade on Saturday, December 5 @ 5:00 pm. Please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org or 434.575.4208 if you can help! They are easy volunteer hours and it's fun!
2 people to carry the lead banner. There are usually 2 high school age girls that are always excited about this task. Do you know of any that would enjoy it?
2-3 Float judges for floats judged in various categories (usually an average of 22 or so floats)
1 Equestrian judge for horses - judge the horses/riders and check for Coggins Test papers (usually 4-5 or so entries)
1 Antique Car judge for cars (usually 15 or so)
1 Dog Judge for dogs (usually 5 or so)
2 Lineup Helpers - this volunteer position starts at 2 pm. Familiarize yourself with the layout of where entries are and direct entries to their spot when they check in.
6 Parade Route Movers - volunteers to stand on parade route to help move things along appropriately so there are no gaps - help keep the walkers moving, or slow down the vehicles in front of the walkers, and make sure entries aren't stopping and socializing.
1 Band helper - Get bands situated in their lineup spot, show them where the portajohns are, assist them with any questions on where to park buses, etc. and then work them into their appropriate spot in the parade.
1 Sponsor Tent Host - Arrange chairs and heaters on stage. Refill hot chocolate and cookies. Distribute hot hands if needed. This volunteer does not have to haul the chairs and heaters or figure out electricity for the heaters. The hot chocolate comes from the Social Services Angel Tree booth.
